CDP Chair Shad Murib, fmr. Rep. Betsy Markey, Rep. Yadira Caraveo, Rep. Diana DeGette highlight the need to support the ACA – not rip health coverage away from Coloradans

DENVER – Today, the Colorado Democratic Party released the following statement highlighting what’s at stake for health care this November on the 14th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act:

“Millions of Americans have relied on the Affordable Care Act for the health care coverage they need for 14 years now – but if Donald Trump gets another term, he promises to gut Colorado families’ access to critical care. Trump was only one vote away from repealing the ACA when he was in office, and he wants to finish the job. Coloradans with preexisting conditions could lose protections, prescription drug costs and premiums would go through the roof, and people would lose insurance,” said Colorado Democratic Party Chair Shad Murib.  “The choice this November is between President Biden, who has fought to lower costs for Colorado families and expand access to health care, and Donald Trump, who is campaigning on ripping health coverage away from Coloradans. The stakes couldn’t be higher or more expensive for working families.“As a physician, I’ve seen firsthand the positive impact the Affordable Care Act has had on healthcare access for working families here in Colorado,” said Congresswoman Yadira Caraveo, MD. “Fourteen years since its inception, the importance of the ACA is as clear as ever. While the idea of excluding Americans from healthcare coverage based on gender or pre-existing conditions may seem outrageous, it was not long ago that Colordans were denied coverage for those very reasons. While Republican threats to Medicare, Medicaid, and the Affordable Care Act remain, I’m committed to defending these bedrock healthcare laws and ensuring that Colordans across the board have access to the healthcare they need.”
“President Lincoln once said to the Congress “We are not bound to win but we are bound to be true.” While not a popular vote in my district at the time. I was honored to vote for the ACA, which has helped millions of Americans afford health insurance.” Said Congresswoman Betsy Markey.
“As we celebrate the 14th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act, it’s vital to recognize its profound impact on so many lives, providing a crucial safety net for millions of Americans. However, the future of the ACA is under threat if Donald Trump is reelected. That is why we must stand united to elect Joe Biden, who, as President, has worked to decrease prescription drug expenses, setting a $35 monthly cap on insulin for seniors, lowered premiums, saving people $800 per year, and has fought to protect and strengthen Medicare and expand access to mental health care. On this anniversary of the ACA, let’s recommit to the fight for equitable healthcare access for all and reject any attempts to roll back the progress we have made.” Said Congresswoman Diana Degette

Donald Trump is promising to repeal the Affordable Care Act and gut Colorado’s health care. If he gets the chance, Trump’s plans would:
